Lise Powell is a talented, professional photographer, based in Brantford, Ontario. Canada. She became interested in photography when she was only 10 years old. Creating her own pinhole camera, and using an old 35 mm camera; she even did her own darkroom work! She was on the Yearbook committee in high school, and photographed her fellow students
throughout the school year, as well as developing the photographs in the school darkroom.
Lise also used her artistic eye to work in the film industry. She worked on several documentaries dealing with The American Civil War; running her own production company that filmed and distributed these movies. She became the specialist in this field, and all companies who wished to obtain footage of battle scenes came to Lise. She was the only female videographer
on the 135th Anniversary Gettysburg Documentary (Wickland Productions). The Television Series "The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne" under the direction of Pierre de Lespinois produced for the CBC out Montreal; but were eventually aired on the Scifi Channel. Lise was the specialist consultant and videographer for the episodes that included Civil War Battles
both in the battlefield, and on a vintage locomotive. (Episode 8 - Southern Comfort, and Episode 16 - The Rockets Red Glare)
Lise's Fine Art Prints have been showcased several times in the Hamilton Spectator (newspaper) "Eye on the Area" feature.
Her photographs were also voted as favorites by the newpaper's readers. Lise's work was also featured in the 2008, and
2009 Hamilton Spectator Calendars. Lise has won many ribbons for her photography in local and national photography contests.
Lise was showcased in her very own Art Show in May 2008 at Glenhyrst Art Gallery in Brantford, ON. The opening night gala
was a fabulous success with a very large turn out and a female barber shop quartet performing for the evening!
Lise has been in a managerial position in two portrait studios. She wasn't able to really shine in these studios, so she decided to open her own studio several years ago in Ancaster. Lise's life changed when she fell in love, and she moved her life and her business to Brantford, ON.
Lise volunteers her time and her talent to an organization called "Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep". This organization provides
portraits free of charge to families who lose their baby either during the pregnancy, in childbirth, or shortly after birth. These
portraits are sometimes the only memories these families have of their precious little angels.
Lise has experience in many forms of photography, ie., landscape, nature, portraiture, stock, product, wedding, glamour, event, music, action (battle scenes), and Modeling Portfolios,
Lise loves to be creative, and working with models lets her do this. She has the ability to capture the true essence of the model. She seems to capture the soul of the model, and freeze it in time with her photography.
